Advancing Inclusive Excellence

At George Mason, the concept of inclusive excellence recognizes that our overall success is fundamentally dependent on how well we value, engage, and incorporate the diversity of our community at all levels.

Inclusive Excellence Plans

Inclusive Excellence Plans (IEPs) seek to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within organizations. These plans involve developing strategies and implementing policies that ensure people from all backgrounds feel welcome and valued in the workplace or educational setting. By creating an inclusive environment, organizations can benefit from a range of perspectives and ideas, which can lead to more innovative solutions to problems and better overall performance. Inclusive Excellence Plans may include initiatives such as hiring more diverse candidates, providing training on diversity and inclusion, and creating a culture that values and respects diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

At Mason, our IEPs are comprehensive, unit-specific plans designed to help academic and administrative units integrate diversity, equity, and educational quality efforts into their missions and institutional operations. Mason’s Inclusive Excellence Framework is comprised of five aspirational dimensions and goals to aid us in creating collective impact, sustainable change, innovation, and productivity across the institutions’ academic and administrative units:
